« the days of Farmington «

Farmington does it’s city celebrations the 2nd week of July, rather than on the 4th.  We are almost never here that week so it’s been a few years since we were able to participate in the festivities.  This year we decided to go all out.

First – Dave and I woke up super early and ran the 10K.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Amber ran a race.  I’ve been training for a half marathon and was scheduled to run 6 miles on Saturday, so why not add .2 to that and participate in a race?  It was A LOT of fun! My goal was to not stop and walk and I pulled it off! Dave stayed by me the whole time which was nice since his pace is quite a bit faster than mine.  We came in 42nd & 43rd out of 115.  If Dave would have run at his normal pace he would have come in like 7th, maybe next year.  It was a great start to the morning.

Second – After the race, we headed home and picked up the children (who had all slept peacefully during our morning run).  We headed back to the park for breakfast!

Third – And then it was time for the infamous parade!  I think the last time we made it to the parade Audra was a brand new baby so it had been awhile.  ALL the kids loved it!  Audra has no fear and is so cute that she would walk up to  someone throwing goodies and they would give her whatever they had!  Eli loved gathering nummies just for the fun of it.  Once he learned they also tasted good, he was more excited to eat them :-)!

A super fantastic Saturday morning in a super fantastic city!!
