It is hard for me to believe that Thanksgiving was not even a week ago.  Because Thanksgiving fell so late in the month, it feels like it was so rushed and now we’ve had to move onto Christmas lickety-split.  I loved our Thanksgiving weekend, mostly because we didn’t have anywhere to be or anything to do.  We just got to be together as a family.  Dave wasn’t traveling for work, the kids didn’t have any activities, we didn’t have any plans as a family so we just to hang out and do whatever we wanted – it was awesome (and much needed)!!  Especially after our week of yuckiness, which unfortunately spread to Dave.  He took it super easy on Wednesday but still managed to make his famous pies – 2 pumpkin and an apple.  Since I am not a fan of pies in general, I took it upon myself to make a chocolate satin pie in the hopes of enjoying some dessert and it was worth it!  Delish!

Traditionally we spend Thanksgiving with Dave’s family.  Thanksgiving is sort of Melody’s holiday so we were all sad that they were not home this year.  But it was nice to spend the day with some of my family.  The food was amazing and we all enjoyed the company.  Dave and I did something we have never done together – we went to Black Friday, except it was on Thursday (which is ridiculously sad).  It was quite an experience but successful!

Since Dave gets Thursday & Friday off, he took the kids on a “hike” which they loved.  He got lots of flying time in with his student and checked a few things off the ever-growing “to-do” list.  More than the holiday itself, it was so great to have a long weekend together.  We even got to run a few errands together during the day, since we have a built-in babysitter.

And just like that it’s time for Christmas.  I broke down and got out the decorations yesterday; hopefully we’ll get a tree this weekend because Christmas will be here and then over before we know it.  And it looks like it will be a white one 🙂
