Conner’s in the big 5th grade, which means so far this year they have studied the great explorers of the earth.  And then they studied the explorers of our great nation.  They just finished up learning all about the pilgrims, the Indians and the first Thanksgiving.  Part of this required them to make a ‘colonial craft.’ Conner chose to make a teepee.  It was a family project — mostly Dave and Conner, but we all jumped in and helped and it will be a great toy for years to come.

The Grand Finale was their aforementioned class play.  And then the next day they came in costume once again to enjoy a full day of all things Colonial – they ate traditional foods and even got to sit in the teepees to eat.  I’ve learned a lot that I should probably already know about history, but it’s been a great reminder.  I wonder what I’ll get to help Conner with learn next?
