Who would think that going to the zoo on the last day of October would be a pleasant experience? But it was one of the best visits I’ve ever had. The temperature was perfect (about 68-70) and the animals were very active. Most of my memories of the zoo include sweating in the heat, dreading standing in the sun, and watching sleeping animals – real exciting.
Conner had Halloween off of school (Teacher prep day) so I decided if the weather was nice we would hit the zoo. I was afraid it would be busy because several school districts did not have school in session, but there were not many people there at all. I am so glad we went. It was a fun way to spend the day and kill time while waiting for the evenings activities!
This giraffe was so sweet, it just stood there looking at us.
All the giraffes were outside, I had never seen that before.
The giraffes were not the only entertainment. There was a monkey going crazy in his cage. He was swinging around, yapping up a storm. I had never heard a real monkey “talk” before – it is very loud and fun to listen to. We could hear him throughout the entire zoo.
This was Logan’s first trip to the zoo. I know it didn’t even phase him…..we had these little baby monkeys jumping from grass to the fence literally 2 feet in front of us and he just watched them like they were the most boring things he’d ever seen – it takes a lot to get that kid to smile :-)!
